Poltronova arrives at the Certosa di San Martino with Terrazzo Quarry, the new piece designed by Bethan Laura Wood, marking a groundbreaking moment in the history of the Tuscan company: for the first time, a contemporary project not drawn from the archives joins its collection. Within an installation conceived by Poltronova for EDIT CULT, Terrazzo Quarry reveals itself as an organic, playful seat, evoking a fragment of upholstered landscape. It is clad in an original fabric created by the designer herself, a textile that, with irony and tactile sensitivity, captures the radical spirit of the historic brand.
The pattern, designed for Poltronova in 2022, stems from Bethan’s observation of Venetian terrazzo, reimagined in a vibrant, material key, where stones appear to float across the fabric in a logic that seems casual yet is profoundly composed. Balanced between matter and illusion, decoration and function, Terrazzo Quarry translates Bethan Laura Wood’s visual sensibility into a radical language that resonates with Poltronova’s eclectic and visionary history, opening a new chapter in its production.
